Companies House filings checker

Enter a UK company number to check the live Companies House record for company status, next accounts / confirmation statement due dates, and overdue flags. Overdue filings often mean Companies House refuses the good-standing summary statement. This free helper cites the public register — not legal advice.

How to read the result

  • Looks current — status active and no overdue flag on accounts / confirmation statement in this check. Soft path to order COGS or a pack.
  • Filings risk — overdue accounts and/or confirmation statement. File on GOV.UK first; do not expect a summary statement yet.
  • Not eligible — dissolved, liquidation or similar status. Unlikely good-standing route.
  • Next due — the register “due by” deadline for accounts or the confirmation statement. Useful planning dates; not a COGS validity period.

FAQ — filings check

Confirm every answer against the live Companies House record. Last updated 22 September 2026.

Why check filings before ordering a Certificate of Good Standing?

Companies House can refuse the summary statement (good standing) when accounts or the confirmation statement are overdue. You may still get a certificate of fact — which many banks reject. Checking first avoids a refused route and an angry email.

What fields does this tool read?

Company status, accounts next due, confirmation statement next due, last-made dates when shown, and whether either filing looks overdue — from the Companies House public company profile (official REST API when a server key is configured, otherwise the public Find and update page).

What does “next due” mean?

On the public register, “due by” is the deadline for the next accounts or confirmation statement. We surface that date as accounts_next_due / confirmation_statement_next_due (ISO YYYY-MM-DD when we can parse it). It is a filing deadline, not a Certificate of Good Standing expiry.

What does “overdue” mean here?

The live register marks accounts or the confirmation statement as overdue when the filing deadline has passed without a accepted filing. That overdue flag is what often blocks the good-standing summary statement — file on GOV.UK, wait for the register to update, then re-check.

Is this legal advice or a guarantee?

No. It is a plain-English reading of public register fields at the moment you click Check. Companies House can change status after you look. Confirm on GOV.UK before you pay.

What if filings are overdue?

File the overdue accounts and/or confirmation statement on GOV.UK first, wait for the register to update, then re-check. Do not order a COGS expecting a summary statement while filings are late.

What if the company is dissolved or in liquidation?

A normal good-standing summary statement is unlikely. Open the live Companies House record and take counsel advice if needed — UKCOGS will not invent eligibility.

Are Companies House certificates buy-now?

Yes for COGS, certified copies and packs (ex VAT; official CH fees £22 standard / £65 express where applicable — checked on GOV.UK week of 22 September 2026). Apostille and embassy stages stay quote-only (FCDO paper £45 / e-Apostille £35).

Where is the official register?

Always re-check on Find and update company information (GOV.UK / Companies House). This tool is a private-agent helper operated by Pasecom Group Ltd — not Companies House.

Does a fresh certificate stay valid for 90 days by law?

No. Companies House does not print a legal expiry. Recipients often apply a 30–90 day operational window. Use the document freshness helper for age maths.
