Eligibility and honesty warnings
Before you order or request a quote
- Filings must be current for the summary statement — overdue accounts or confirmation statement usually mean a certificate of fact without “good standing” language many banks reject.
- No shareholders or PSCs on the company certificate — ownership detail needs a different certified copy if the checklist asks for it.
- Not an SRA certificate — this is the Companies House company product, not a solicitor or barrister regulatory certificate.
- We are a private agent — not the FCDO, not Companies House, not GOV.UK. No FCDO partner or “listed” claim.
- Paper vs e-Apostille is recipient-dependent — do not assume e-Apostille will be accepted; ask in writing.
- Hague vs non-Hague — the UAE and some other destinations often need embassy or ministry steps beyond any apostille.
- Apostille fulfilment awaits a contracted partner — quotes welcome; we confirm before taking legalisation money.
- No visa, immigration or bank-account-opening advice. No invented legal validity period for apostilles or COGS.
Hague Apostille parties vs embassy extra steps
For many destinations that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, an FCDO apostille is the UK legalisation product foreign clerks expect on a company certificate. Some countries are not Hague parties — a common commercial example is the United Arab Emirates, where banks and free zones often need embassy or ministry attestation beyond any UK apostille. Paper versus e-Apostille — acceptance reality
You choose the type when you apply on GOV.UK, but the recipient decides what they will accept. Ask in writing for paper or electronic. e-Apostille is faster on GOV.UK’s published timescales (often up to about 2 working days) and costs £35; standard paper is £45 plus return courier or postage and usually takes longer (GOV.UK cites up to about 25 working days plus transit — confirm when you apply). What is an apostilled Certificate of Good Standing?
It is the everyday name for a Companies House company certificate (often with the summary statement banks call “good standing”) that has then been legalised by the FCDO with an apostille. The CH certificate proves company facts; the apostille confirms the UK signature, stamp or seal so a foreign authority can trust it under the Hague Convention (where that route applies).
Can I buy COGS + apostille with one click on UKCOGS?
No. Apostille and embassy legalisation are quote-only. Companies House originals are buy-now: COGS £79 standard / £129 express ex VAT (official CH £22 / £65 shown separately), or the company documents pack £249–£299. Order the CH document first if you need it, then request a legalisation quote. We do not take apostille money until fulfilment is confirmed.
How much do the official fees cost?

Paper apostille or e-Apostille for a COGS?
Ask the recipient in writing. Paper still dominates for many foreign banks and registries. e-Apostille is only for eligible digitally signed PDFs and is not universally accepted. We will not choose for you as legal advice — share the written checklist and we quote what we can fulfil.
Must filings be up to date before you order COGS?
Yes for the summary statement. Companies House refuses the “good standing” summary if accounts or the confirmation statement are overdue — you may still get a certificate of fact that many banks reject. Use the free filings check before you pay. Apostille does not fix a refused summary.
Does the certificate show shareholders or PSCs?
No. Companies House company certificates do not include shareholders, Persons with Significant Control or a statement of capital (those options closed in 2016). If the recipient list asks for ownership detail, that is a different certified copy — tell us early so we can quote the right set.
Is this an SRA certificate of good standing?
No. An SRA certificate is a regulatory document for solicitors. A BSB certificate covers barristers. This page is only for the Companies House company certificate used for UK limited companies, plus optional FCDO legalisation. We do not supply SRA or BSB certificates.
Are you the FCDO, an FCDO partner, or Companies House?
